The WaterCheck™ kit #7001 is a very accurate screening tool to detect human or animal waste contamination in drinking water. The test determines the presence or absence of coliform and E.coli bacteria, indicative of fecal bacteria.

If your tap water, which is poured into the sterile plastic bag, has even a single cfu of coliform/ E. Coli, a visible blue green colour will develop in the bag. At that point it is suggested you contact your local Heath unit to determine the exact bacteria present. If the bag stays yellow, as per instructions, that water passes the test.

Health authorities suggest home owners test their water at least twice year. This will help you protect visitors, clients and animals from the dangers of waterborne pathogenic micro-organisms by providing warning of possible fecal contamination. Most homes, cottages, farms will test in summer, fall and after a spring runoff.
